Nicholas joined Rathbones in 2011 and, after an period working alongside other managers, he is now part of a larger team headed by Tim Hubbard.

He graduated from Cambridge with an MA in Natural Sciences and started working life at Price Waterhouse, before moving to James Capel in 1986 and Smith & Williamson until 1995. He then moved to Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd (TYIM), a firm started by his father in 1986.

He worked at TYIM for 17 years, as a fund manager and analyst, and latterly as a director and member of the Executive Committee. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager.

He is married with two children and lives in Kent.

Nick graduated with a BA in History from Cardiff University in 2002 and is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute. He started his financial services career with Barclays Wealth in London and spent five years at HSBC Global Asset Management before moving to the South West in 2015.

Nick manages discretionary investment portfolios for a range of individuals, companies and trusts with a particular focus on working with Independent Financial Advisers and their clients.

He joined Rathbones in 2001 from JPMorgan Fleming where he was a director of Fleming Private Asset Management. He became a member of the Stock Exchange in 1986 with Montagu, Loebl, Stanley.

Nick is an investment director with responsibility for the bespoke investment management of portfolios for private clients and their trusts, self invested personal pensions (SIPPs) and charities. He has over 25 years' investment experience having started his financial career with the Edinburgh stockbrokers, Bell Lawrie, subsequently Brewin Dolphin, where he rose to become a divisional director. His responsibilities there included being a trustee of both the Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution company pension schemes and also a founding member of the Asset Allocation Committee.

He joined Rathbones in 2011 after spending time as head of asset management with an investment boutique and with J O Hambro Capital Management in London. He was elected a member of the London Stock Exchange in 1986 and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Although Nick specialises in the management of private clients, trusts, pensions and charities he is also a highly experienced US and global equities fund manager. A past Citywire Cover Star and a two time winner at the Lipper Citywire All Star Awards he has considerable experience working with national media and the trade press, both in the UK and USA. He contributes to the Rathbone investment process being a member of the International Equities Committee and is a member of Rathbones Adviser Specialist Group.

Nick started his career at Wise Speke then spent four years at Merrill Lynch before opening the Laing & Cruikshank office in Newcastle which was acquired by UBS in 2004. At UBS, Nick became an executive director and head of the Newcastle office. Nick has significant experience in managing private client, trust, offshore, pension fund and charity portfolios.

As well as gaining a degree from Newcastle University Nick holds the CISI Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI).

Nick is immediate past chairman of the Percy Hedley Foundation, a large charity in the North East of England providing educational, vocational and residential care opportunities for disabled people; a trustee of both the Newcastle University Retirement Benefit Fund and the University’s Development Trust;  a board member of CISI and is the current Chair of Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust.

Nick was honoured to be commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Tyne & Wear in 2020.

She is also a mental health first aider and a member of the company’s Diversity Committee. She previously managed a team in the research distribution department at Barclays Capital and worked in marketing at several institutional asset managers, including Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. She studied Italian and Classical History at Leeds University, and is fluent in Italian.

Nigel began his career in the City in 1974, moving into financial services sector in 1977 with stockbrokers Strauss Turnbull. In 1986 he became a member of the London Stock Exchange.

During the 1990’s he worked for Societe Generale Investment Management, which was acquired by Tilney Investment Management in 2003. Tilney was acquired by The Deutsche Bank in 2007. He joined Rathbone Investment Management in June 2014.

Niki is an assistant investment manager with more than 17 years’ experience in assisting with the day to day management of private clients, SIPP, trust and charity investment portfolios.
