Stephen has over twenty-five years of investment experience. He joined Speirs & Jeffrey in January 2013 and arrived with Rathbones following the integration of S&J in 2019. In addition to managing investments for individuals Stephen forms part of the Rathbones Charities Team managing portfolios for charity and trust clients.  

Stephen’s earlier investment career was in institutional fund management working as an investment director at Scottish Widows Investment Management and before that an investment manager at Britannic (now Abrdn) Asset Management. Over this period Stephen specialised in Japanese and Asian equities prior to forming part of a global equity team with responsibilities for the financial sectors. 

After graduating from Heriot-Watt University with an honours degree in Economics, Stephen completed postgraduate studies in Investment Analysis at Stirling University. Stephen is a member of the Chartered Financial Analysts Society of the UK and a Chartered Fellow of The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Stephen is deputy regional manager of the Edinburgh office.  He specialises in the management of investments for private clients, trusts, and personal pension funds.

Prior to joining Rathbones, he spent 15 years with Cornelian Asset Managers where he contributed to the early development of this smaller independent firm.  He trained with ABN AMRO Asset Management where he joined as a graduate from the University of Edinburgh in 1996. 

He has long experience of working with financial advisers and works with the Rathbones IFA Investment Committee as well as chairing the Edinburgh Investment Committee. He is also interested in investment technology and systems and sits on the Front Office IT Committee. 

Stephen is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Steve is an investment director at Rathbones having joined in 2014 and manages a broad range of private client portfolios, trusts and self-invested pension schemes.

He started his career at Williams de Broë (now Investec) in 2011. Steve is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager. He is a member of the Rathbones Financial Adviser Investment team.

Steve is an investment director at Rathbones having joined in 2014 and manages a broad range of private client portfolios, trusts and self-invested pension schemes.

Stuart works with Bryn Jones, assisting in the management of the Rathbone Ethical Bond Fund and the Rathbone Strategic Bond Fund. He is also the lead fund manager of the Rathbone High Quality Bond Fund. 

Stuart joined Rathbones in September 2017 and was made an Assistant Fund Manager in January 2020, then Fund Manager in January 2022. Previously, he gained three years industry experience at Brown Shipley.

He graduated from Bath University with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He is a CFA Charterholder and also holds the CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification, having won the CISI Financial Markets & CISI Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification awards at the annual CISI awards in 2016 & 2017 respectively. He was named in the 2018 Citywire Top 30 under 30 investment management awards.

Stuart has a BA (Hons) English degree from the University of Southampton and the CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification, previously the Masters in Wealth Management. He also holds the CISI Diploma in Investment Advice and is a Fellow of the CISI.

Stuart primarily focuses on asset allocation modelling and risk management and is responsible for UK and international discretionary private client portfolios.

He is a member of the international team which was the winner of ‘Best International Discretionary Fund Manager’ for 2017, 2018 and 2019 and is responsible for the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of bespoke investment solutions.

Stuart is also a trustee for The Rathbone Group Foundation.

Stuart is an investment director and looks after a growing number of private clients, pensions, charities and trusts. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Stuart graduated from St. Andrews University with an honours degree in Economics/Finance. After obtaining his qualifications at Tilney, Stuart took a year out travelling around the world before returning to work at Charles Stanley in Edinburgh. He returned to Glasgow and joined Speirs and Jeffrey in 2003. Speirs and Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Stuart joined Rathbones as a client service executive in April 2020 as part of the acquisition of the Barclays Wealth Court of Protection team.

Before joining Rathbones, Stuart held various roles in Barclays’ Retail, Corporate, Real Estate and Wealth divisions. Since his move to the Court of Protection team, Stuart has enjoyed supporting our clients and their deputies/trustees. He is currently studying for the CISI Investment & Advice qualification.

Away from work Stuart has two young children and is a keen sportsman with a golf handicap of 7.

Susan joined Rathbones in 2014 and works as an investment manager's assistant to Clive Hexton and Tim Johnson. She has many years’ experience in the financial services industry, in particular within client services.  Susan has an in depth knowledge of the team’s clients and provides a high level of administration support to them and the team.

In addition, Susan is a member of the Rathbones’ Procedures Committee which has responsibility for ensuring that the high levels of service and administrative support for fund managers and clients alike is maintained whilst also seeking ways of developing Rathbones’ systems and procedures to meet the ever evolving  demands of our business.
