LATER LIFE FINANCIAL AWARENESS COURSE
This online course is for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of the financial issues facing people in later life, including types of care, funding options, considerations like estate planning and the wider support available.
Thursday 12 September, 12.00pm - 1.00pm
We will run through some key financial areas that affect later life care, such as:
- Powers of attorney and funeral plans
- Equity release
- Care annuities
- Inheritance tax
- Trusts
- Wills
- Court of protection
The course will also address key questions, including:
- Can I afford the care I want?
- Will I be able to look after my spouse/partner if they require care and how will that impact me?
- Would a stock market downturn affect my ability to meet my care fees?
- What would happen if I ran out of assets?
- Will my children receive an inheritance?
We will also discuss local authority and state support that could be available and how it works, which can often be a confusing area for many people.
Financial security in later life
The course will explore how you can start now to make the most of your money and boost your financial resources towards your later life care. We will cover areas including:
- Property
- Savings and investments
- Care annuities
- Cash flow planning
Later life care is an area of financial planning that you don’t have to approach alone. Professional guidance from a financial planner could help you make decisions that mean money is one thing you and your family don’t have to worry about at difficult times. Once we have identified your care needs, we can measure how your income, savings and investments meet them during your lifetime. Rathbones do not offer all areas discussed.
