Our next online financial awareness course for those aged 16 to 25 takes place on Thursday 8 August from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.
Financial education for young people
Article last updated 20 June 2024.
Understanding investments can be like learning a different language. Investment professionals use terminology that is often unrecognisable to those who don’t work in finance. At Rathbones, we believe in education so your clients can understand the wealth management environment. They will then be better equipped to make informed decisions.
We offer a range of financial awareness courses throughout the year. The next one on Thursday 8 August is designed specifically to help young people take control of their finances, providing them with the knowledge, skills and language to build a secure financial future.
The course is suitable for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of how investments work – from the most basic cash deposit to more complex securities and strategies. We demystify the jargon and explain in plain language how these investments work and why they may wish to select them. In this 90-minute session we’ll cover the following topics:
- Financing your life: The costs of buying property, raising children, paying for education and retiring in comfort, and ways to finance your dreams.
- Looking at the next decade: Balancing university debt, mortgages and buying your first home, and managing credit and debit cards.
- An introduction to investing: Your first steps into the stock market and balancing risk with reward.
- Careers: How the investment and fund management industries work, with interview advice for those interested in working in financial services.
The course could be particularly useful for your clients who want to involve their families in their financial plans and discuss their intentions together. Please forward the invitation to your clients if they have children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews who you think would benefit from attending.
We also run general financial awareness courses for people of all ages interested in finding out more about what goes on behind the scenes. As well as exploring the potential benefits of investing, we explain how engaging the right financial planner can bring about positive outcomes in meeting your long-term aspirations.
Our next general financial awareness course takes place online on 16 July 2024 from 2.30pm to 4.00pm. Click here to register.
