You may remember that last year we announced our intention to combine the Rathbones Group with Investec Wealth & Investment (UK). This transaction completed on 21 September 2023 and we have begun the process of integration. An update is below for those of you who are interested.

Since September we have been working steadily to bring our two businesses together and all areas of the company have been enjoying getting to know each other better. We have much in common, are working collaboratively, and excited about the opportunities that this combination will create.

Dedicated integration teams have been set up and are working hard together to manage change carefully, minimise disruption and focus on making improvements to how we work with you. Our central investment research function, which provides high-quality research to investment managers and financial planners so they can decide how best to manage each client’s wealth, has recently been combined under common leadership. It is now one of the largest and best-resourced in the industry and will continue to help us explore the market for the opportunities that will add value to the funds you have invested with us.

We also continue to invest heavily in the technology that supports our investment managers and financial planners, as well as the digital service we offer clients to augment your personal experience with us. Over time, IW&I (UK) will move onto Rathbones’ platforms, products and services. We will be maintaining our expanded UK regional footprint, with offices in 23 locations across the country.

There is still a lot of work to do but we are making good progress and collaborating closely. Ultimately our focus throughout this transition, and beyond, remains firmly on continuing to deliver the best possible service to Rathbones clients. This is at the heart of our culture as well as that of IW&I (UK).

If you have any questions or would like more information, please get in touch with your usual Rathbones contact who will be very happy to discuss this with you.
