The Kendal office is sponsoring the Barbara Hepworth: Within the Landscapes exhibition at Abbot Hall from 5 July – 28th September 2014.
This summer exhibition focuses on one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century, Dame Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975). The exhibition contains some of Hepworth’s most iconic sculptures including Stringed Figure (Curlew), 1956, Torso III (Galatea), 1958, and Moon Form, 1968, alongside prints, photographs and ephemera detailing the artist’s life long relationship with the landscape.
Over the years, Rathbones has sponsored a number of exhibitions at Abbot Hall in Kendal including the Graham Sutherland Exultant Strangeness Exhibition, the Bacon to Rego Exhibition and the Lucien Freud Exhibition.
Abbot Hall is owned by the Lakeland Arts Trust, one of the leading independent museum and gallery trusts in the UK. The Trust has contacts at all the major galleries enabling them to borrow works of art from around the country to bring high quality exhibitions to the South Lakes.
Richard Dawson, Rathbones’ regional director for Kendal, said, “Rathbones has a proud history of assisting local organisations and charities like the Lakeland Arts Trust in initiatives such as the high quality exhibitions at Abbot Hall. Supporting the arts in the region has become a core element of our engagement, not only with our clients but the broader community.”
