Nick Russell

Investment Director

Nick Russell

Investment Director

London

Alongside three other senior Investment Directors, Nick co-leads a team of 12 investment specialists advising high-net-worth individuals, families, and their companies/charities. Each wealth strategy is bespoke, shaped by clients’ tax, risk, income, and long-term legacy goals. He specialises in the tax-efficient management of onshore and offshore portfolios, ISAs, pensions, trusts, and family investment companies. He works closely with ultra-high-net-worth entrepreneurs and global families to support multi-generational wealth planning, often involving trust structures, FICs and offshore bonds.

Nick and his team work closely with clients’ financial advisers and accountants to structure portfolios that balance tax efficiency with flexibility — enabling families to enjoy income today, or preserve capital for future generations. Portfolios typically complement client’s income tax, CGT, IHT, and corporation tax strategies, blending high-quality global equities, bonds, and diversifying alternative investments. Banking and lending services are also available to complement the investment proposition.

With a degree in Money, Banking and Finance, Nick began his career in business valuation at KPMG before moving into investment management. Over the past 19 years, he has held investment management roles at Morgan Stanley Quilter, HSBC Asset Management, and Investec, before joining Rathbones with his team in 2022. A Chartered Fellow of the CISI, Nick completed the Diploma in Wealth Management with a Distinction in Fund Management and receiving the National Award for Excellence in Private Client Investment Management. Most of his clients — many spanning three firms — are now friends, reflecting his priority on building long-term relationships, where he helps clients have financial peace of mind.
