Richard is the regional director for Rathbones’ Kendal office; along with the Kendal team, Richard manages funds on behalf of private clients, pension funds, companies and trusts.

Richard moved to the Lake District to join Rathbones in 2002, having trained and worked in London and has been investing on behalf of his clients for close to 30 years.

With a degree in Business Studies, Richard is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Richard is married with two daughters, he enjoys many outdoor activities and is also a governor of a local community school.

Sarah is Chief Risk Officer and joined Rathbones in March 2015.  She worked for NatWest and RBS group for over 30 years, including 13 years at Coutts. 

Sarah’s career turned to risk management in the 1990s and she worked in Switzerland for three years as the chief risk officer for Coutts’ international private banking business.  She moved to the Non Core division of RBS in 2010 and most recently provided risk oversight of RBS’ transformation programme. 

Sarah has an MBA with a dissertation on operational risk management and she is a member of the Institute of Risk Management. She joined the Group Executive Committee in July 2015.

Julian joined Rathbones Investment Management in 1997 and now heads up the Northern Region as a whole. Having qualified as a chartered accountant with PWC in 1997, Julian has around 30 years’ experience in the financial industry. He is a chartered wealth manager and a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has a wealth of experience in Charities, Trusts, Private Clients and Pension Funds. He is also a trustee of several charitable trusts.

The clients, as ever, remain front and centre of attention. Staying in close contact with clients and their evolving needs and providing the most suitable ongoing investment solutions, remains his primary objective.

Julian is married with 3 children, who keep him on his toes. They enjoy the great outdoors and a host of related activities.

Bristol

James is the regional director of the Bristol office. In addition to his management responsibilities, he manages investment portfolios for charities, individuals, trusts and self-invested personal pensions. He also sits on Rathbones’ IT Steering, Training and Social & Environmental Committees.

James started his career in stockbroking in Bristol in 1984, and joined Rathbones in 1996. He is a graduate of Cambridge University with an MA (Hons) in English Literature, and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. In his spare time, James is a governor of Red Maids School in Bristol and he is the treasurer of a local triathlon club. James also holds a black belt in Taekwondo; he is a member of the Clifton Club, the Bristol & Clifton Golf Club and an associate member of MCC.

Ivo is responsible for the RIM client facing, Investment Research and Investment Risk teams. Ivo joined Rathbones after graduating from Edinburgh University in 1991 and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. He founded the charity team in London and managed portfolios as an investment manager for almost 30 years. He was appointed to Rathbones Investment Management Committee in 2006 and joined the Group Executive Committee in July 2015.

David is an investment director and has managed investments for private individuals, trusts, pension funds and charities for over 30 years. Elected to the London Stock Exchange in 1989, David is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments at full diploma level achieved with distinction and a graduate of Edinburgh University. 

David joined Rathbones in August 2000 after three years with Merrill Lynch setting up this group's Scottish business. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, he spent 11 years with the Scottish stockbrokers, Bell Lawrie, rising to director level on the private client side. David is one of our senior investment managers looking after some £300m of client funds and  previously headed up the Edinburgh office overseeing its growth to the largest office in terms of funds under management outside London at just over £2.5bn. He works with fellow directors, Charles Younger and Nick Liddle and is supported by investment manager, Jonathan Brock, assistant investment manager, James Coppell and PA, Julie Loudon.

Andy graduated from Exeter University with a first class honours degree in Chemistry and Law, and subsequently spent three years as a solicitor in the corporate finance team at Freshfields in the early 1990s.

Andy joined Rathbones in June 2014 following his previous role as head of charities at Newton Investment Management. Andy has also worked at Schroder Investment Management and UBS Wealth Management, and during his career has managed investment portfolios for a wide variety of charities and other not-for-profit organisations, as well as individuals, trusts and corporates.

Andy is a visiting lecturer at the Cass Business School (Centre for Charity Effectiveness), and an external member of the Investment Committee of the Dunhill Medical Trust. He is also an Associate Member of the CFA Society of the UK (ASIP) and a Chartered Fellow of the CISI (FCSI). Andy is a keen sportsman with interests in skiing, horses and tennis, whilst enjoying time spent in the garden and with his family.
